"S-Force S.O.S." is the 6th episode of season 2 of Megas XLR.
Plot summary[]
The S-Force has been defeated and captured by the villainous Zarek, who has begun devastating their home planet, Sarus. Only Jax has escaped from Zarek's clutches. He suggests Targon about going to Earth and asking Coop for help, a suggestion that Targon quickly rejects. Targon is forced to reconsider when Jax tells him that the S-Force has already been defeated and there is one else that can help them.
Meanwhile, Coop, Kiva and Jamie are relaxing on a beach, until they are found by Jax, who is carrying Targon's communicator with him. Targon informs Coop about the S-Force's predicament and reluctantly asks for his assistance in saving them. Coop agrees to help them because he still considers them friends. As Megas blasts off into space, Kiva asks Targon how could Zarek defeat the Zarek and Targon replies that he caught them by surprise. Due to their interaction with Coop, the S-Force have picked up some of his habits, like fastfood and video games, losing the ability to do their job properly.
Megas arrives at Sarus, which has been devastated by Zarek's assault. Zarek has decided to publicly execute the S-Force in the other side of the planet. His form of execution is a portal to the Infinity Zone, an alternate dimension from which there is no escape. Argo, in an act of defiance, offers to be the first to go, but just as Zarek's lackeys throw him into the gate, Argo is rescued by Megas. The S-Force is reunited and boards Megas to escape from Zarek's forces.
Although Megas easily defeats Zarek's robots, a small distraction from Coop causes Megas to fall into the Infinity Zone. Zarek believes he has won, until Megas punches its way out of the Infinity Zone, a feat that Zarek considered to be impossible. Argo tells Coop to take the S-Force to their Zorps so they can fight Zarek together, while Zarek summons the Star Serpent, his largest robot.
The S-Force recovers their Zorps from a cave, while the Star Serpent attacks their location. Coop activates Megas' Super Destructor Mode and attempts to cover the S-Force using a barrage of missiles. Unfortunately, since Coop hasn't properly tested Super Destructor Mode, the missiles end up hitting the Zorps instead. Fortunately, the S-Force had managed to form the Super Ultra-Dimensional Magno-Extreme Robotoid Power Zorp, allowing them to survive the explosion.
Together, Coop and S-Force fight Zarek's forces. While the S-Force fights Zarek's robots individually, Megas climbs on top the Star Serpent. Zarek attempts to hit Megas using the Star Serpent's tail, but Megas uses the tail to destroy the Serpent's head. The Serpent's broken tail falls into the city, but the S-Force diverts its fall into an unpopulated area. With the battle over, Zarek is arrested but he promises to return.
Targon proclaims that the Serpent's broken tail shall remain untouched as a reminder that the galaxy will always need heroes like the S-Force and Argo says that heroes will always need allies like Coop. Unfortunately, Coop ends up ruining the ceremony when he destabilizes the tail and causes it to fall over the city.
End credits[]
Coop, Kiva, Jamie and the S-Force return to Earth to sing karaoke together, while Targon gets distracted watching Coop's Hawaiian figurine.
Notes[]
- The karaoke being sung by Mac during the montage is the show's opening theme.
References to popular culture[]
- During the montage at the beginning, Coop hands Jax something like a 4-button Game Boy.
- At the end of the montage, Argo and Mac appear to be playing a Dreamcast or Saturn.
- When Megas lands on the S-Force planet, the sound effect is that of a door closing in the classic Doom games.
- The 'Infinity Zone' opened by Zarek looks a bit like the Phantom Zone from DC Comics.
- Zarek's mecha forces bear a striking resemblance to the Zaku model mobile suits from some of the Gundam incarnations.
